Requirements for Registration

In order to take the Driver Education class in Surry County, students must be enrolled in a Surry County school or live in Surry County. Homeschool students MUST live in Surry County School district. Students from MAHS that register for a Surry County Driver Education class will be required to drive with MAHS after passing the 30-hour class.

All classes for April/May sessions are full.

Next class:

Class Date: June 12 to June 16, 2023

Class Time: 8 am to 2 pm (students will need to bring lunch each day)

Location: ESHS, NSHS, and/or SCHS - This will be updated as soon as I have verified instructor availability.

Age Requirement: The state requires students to be born on or before December 12, 2008, in order to take this class. The state also requires that students be enrolled in high school in order to take a class. **If you are in 8th grade you can take the class, but you will not drive until you attend high school classes in the Fall of 2023.

***Registration opens on May 15, 2023, at 8 am. The registration will close when all seats are full or on May 26, 2023, at 5 pm. It's like a rock concert--get up early, set your alarms--classes fill up fast.
